All CIU programs of study were approved by the NCHE, a body charged with quality assurance in higher education in Uganda. Before the National Council for Higher Education gives its seal of approval it engages specialists in the respective subject fields to evaluate the program and confirms that the mounting of the program would add value to the learners. In this regard the programs are benchmarked against best practices in Uganda. The external examination policy within the University helps our study program to draw from the best practices.

 

The QAU has been participating in benchmarking workshops and webinars where they share experiences concerning internal quality assurance, this includes Benchmarking of performance indicators, Benchmarking of on the follow-up of feedback, Benchmarking of staff competence/development, Benchmarking of programme development and review process. At international level, the University benchmarks with Eight (8) HADCO member universities of Applied Sciences in Finland and Vincent Pol university in Poland, where staff and students from the school of Nursing and Allied Health engage in an exchange program for purposes of exposure and acquiring skills relevant to their study programs and teaching methodologies. Nationally and regionally CIU is a member of Ugandan Universities Quality Assurance Forum (UUQAF), East African Quality Assurance Network (EAQAN) and the Inter University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) ; QA bodies that bring together all East African Universities Quality Assurance practitioners to share best practices on Quality Assurance.

 

In addition, CIU is a member of Health professional bodies which include the Allied Health Professionals Council (AHPC) and the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council, which accept members based on rigorous evaluation of their program and study facilities.
